Well, we have been open for one month now, and what a month it has been!
We have had such a positive, kind and welcoming response from Queenstown locals and business owners alike and I feel very privileged to have become part of such a wonderful community. It’s such a real pleasure to be here.

Queenstown has been fairly busy since we opened – particularly with the school holidays. But this seems to have continued with a steady stream of visitors from all parts of the country. And the odd Aussie! We are blessed with beautiful, sunny and still autumnal days – I personally think now is the best time of year to visit this beautiful town…the hills are a tapestry of greens, yellows and reds, and the odd dusting of snow on the mountains makes it all the more magical.

We have a fantastic new staff member to introduce to the Flora Fauna family – Holly Dunn, who has joined us from Nelson – recently relocating here after falling madly in love with a Frenchman who resides in Glenorchy. I know she will make an absolutely stellar contribution to the Wunderkammer. She is a very accomplished Illustrator in her own right – check out her designs (which we will be utilising in the future) at @hollydunnshop on instagram. She has a particular interest in books, and having worked in several fabulous UK bookstores, so you can expect to see our book selection grow!

I wanted to thank all the beautiful people who have made our opening a real success already – both with encouraging words from afar, and with up close and personal visits (and purchases!). You all mean an awful lot.
Lastly, I want to acknowledge and thank profusely, my wonderful fiancé Benjamin. Without his tireless support, encouragement, and backbreaking labour over the past few months, this lovely little shop would never have opened. Here’s to you my love. I am so lucky to have you in my life, you really do make me the happiest girl in the world. Xx
