Atlas Moth in White Frame (Atticus atlas)

Atlas Moths (Atticus Atlas) are the second largest species of Lepidopteran in the World with wingspans that can reach up to 24cm.

Lepidoptera are Moths and Butterflies that make up over 10% of all described species in the World!

Both forewings have a prominent extension at the tip, with markings that resemble the head of a snake, a resemblance which is exaggerated by movements of the wings when the moth is confronted by potential predators.
