Alpine Black Swallowtail Butterfly in Glass Dome (Papilio maackii)

enquire here

The beautiful Alpine Swallowtail Butterfly is native to central Asia, and has two 'forms' - spring and summer - the spring form displayed here is much smaller than the summer form.

Although it's name includes the word 'alpine', these guys cannot fly or eat in temperatures below 28 degrees celsius! They are often seen basking in the sun, and habitat grasslands.
