This beautiful, large Burchell's zebra head mount was taxidermied as a result of legal government culling in South Africa. African Governments do this from time to time to help keep the population stable and healthy from things like drought.
Plains Zebras (of which Burchell's is a subspecies) are the most populous and widespread Zebra on the planet.
Plains Zebras are one of three species of Zebra - the only living members of the family Equidae. They share the genus Equus with horses and dokeys.
