Mourning Cloak Butterfly in Black Frame (Nymphalis antiopa)

$325.00

qty

The butterfly is named for its resemblance to an archaic, dark hooded cloak traditionally worn by individuals during periods of mourning. Its velvety, purplish-brown wings are bordered by striking yellow edges and a row of iridescent blue spots, mimicking the trimming of a somber funeral shawl. It is found in North America and across Eurasia. Frame Size: 18cm x 18cm We place great importance on the ethical origin of the insects and butterflies.
